HTMA - Testing

What is Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)?

A non-invasive test that measures mineral levels and toxic metals in hair, reflecting long-term metabolic trends.
Unlike blood tests, which reflect only a moment in time, HTMA shows long-term patterns — helping you uncover imbalances that may have been developing for months.

Minerals are essential for energy and vitality, hormonal balance, nervous system function, digestion and metabolism, and overall health.

Why This Test Matters

Many symptoms are not random — they’re signals.
HTMA helps you identify the root causes behind issues such as:

  • Fatigue and low energy
  • Chronic stress or burnout
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Digestive discomfort
  • Blood sugar fluctuations
  • Weakened immune function

It can also reveal:

  • Mineral deficiencies or excess (calcium, magnesium, zinc)
  • Heavy metal exposure (mercury, lead)
  • Your metabolic type and stress patterns

Take small hair samples from the indicated area until you reach the required amount (only the first 2.5–4 cm from the root).

How to prepare the hair sample for the anlaysis:

  • !The part of hair for analysis cannot be dyed!
  • Wash your hair using a mild, natural shampoo, please avoid anti-dandruff shampoo.
  • Do not use conditioner or styling products before cutting the sample.
  • Use clean stainless-steel scissors.
  • Cut the hair at the back of your head on your scalp.
  • Cut hair as close to the skin as possible – the first 2,5 – 4 cm from the root is ideal because it reflects recent mineral status so cut this part off.
  • Collect approx. 1 tbs (0,2-0,3 g) of hair and place it into a paper envelope.

HTMA Test + Full Consultation

This package is ideal if you would like a deeper understanding of your body and personalised guidance based on your mineral balance and metabolic patterns.

It is especially helpful if you are experiencing ongoing symptoms such as fatigue, stress, digestive issues, or hormonal imbalances, and want to explore potential root causes.

The package includes a Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) test and a full consultation to interpret your results.
Your results are analysed using proven HTMA methodology and specialist training completed at Mineral Check (UK), ensuring reliable and practical interpretation.
During the consultation, we review your HTMA report in detail alongside your health history, symptoms, diet, and lifestyle. This allows us to identify mineral imbalances, stress patterns, and possible toxic exposures that may be affecting your wellbeing.

Additional Functional Testing

  • In some cases, additional testing can provide deeper insight into what may be contributing to your symptoms.
  • Where appropriate, we work with trusted laboratories to assess
  • Blood testing
General health markers such as blood sugar, cholesterol, liver function, and inflammation.
  • Hormonal testing
Assessing key hormones related to stress, energy, and reproductive health (e.g. cortisol, sex hormones, thyroid markers).
  • Comprehensive functional testing
Specialised tests that may assess areas such as gut microbiome balance, nutrient status, or metabolic function (e.g. OAT, stool analysis, or DUTCH testing when appropriate).
  • Testing is always recommended individually, based on your symptoms and needs. It is not required for every client.
  • key areas such as blood chemistry, hormones, gut health, and metabolic function. These tests help to build a clearer picture of what is happening within the body and guide more personalised support.

Am I the right therapist for you?

I began my journey into gut health through my own experience. In 2017, while studying at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, I started experiencing persistent stomach discomfort, including achy pain at night. After several medical check-ups, I was advised to follow a low FODMAP diet. Wanting to better understand what was happening, I also sought additional guidance from a lecturer at my college. This was one of my first deeper introductions to gut-focused nutritional approaches and sparked my long-term interest in digestive health.

From a young age, I had also been prescribed antibiotics multiple times, which is widely understood to potentially influence the balance of the gut microbiome. Over time, this led me to become especially interested in how lifestyle and nutrition choices may support a healthy and balanced gut ecosystem.

In my practice, I focus on helping clients implement practical, sustainable changes that support digestive function. This includes foundational habits such as mindful eating and proper chewing, as well as nutritional and lifestyle strategies that support the digestive system as a whole—including the stomach, liver, pancreas, and intestinal lining. While dietary changes can be an important part of the process, I believe that long-term improvement comes from realistic, maintainable habits rather than restrictive approaches.

I also aim to provide ongoing support between sessions where appropriate, as I find this helps clients feel guided and supported while making changes.
Alongside my studies at the College of Naturopathic Medicine, I continue to deepen my knowledge in gut and skin health. Recent training includes courses with the School of Applied Functional Medicine, as well as further education in SIBO-focused approaches with Dr. Allison Siebecker, ND.

You are very welcome to work with me, together we can achieve amazing results 😊
